2007 Enduro Rules
SPECIFICATIONS FOR FACTORY STOCK ENDURO CARS
CONCEPT:
This event has been created to provide an opportunity for the novice or
inexperienced driver to participate in a competitive racing event with a
minimum of expense.
DEFINITION:
The word "stock" will mean unaltered and as originally factory produced
and installed for year, make and model. No Street Stock or American
Stock race cars.
COMPETING
MODELS:
1960 or newer American or Foreign sedans, 2-door or 4-door. Sorry, no
vans, convertibles, pick-ups or Jeeps. No bolt-on tops allowed. No
fiberglass or kit cars. No 4-wheel drive. Cars may be rear wheel or
front wheel drive. Engines and bodies must be matched make-to-make for
year & model. All competing cars must have a factory stock wheel base of
no less than 95" and not greater than 128".
ENGINE:
Factory engine and components with one (1) stock carburetor. No headers
or speed equipment. Stock intake and exhaust manifolds. Engine must be
in stock position.
BODIES:
Must be complete and stock, including all sheet metal. Cars must remain
stock appearing. Remove all chrome and plastic exterior body parts which
may fall off onto the racetrack. This includes door handles, mirrors,
headlight rims, chrome strips, etc. Doors must be chained, bolted or
welded. Deck lids may be chained but not welded. Fenders may be cut up
to 3" for tire clearance. Upholstery removal is optional except for rear
seat which must be removed. No front hoops under hood except for
radiator protection.
FRAME:
Frames must be completely stock. No alterations, bracing, welding,
reinforcing, etc.
GLASS:
Removal of all glass and plastic is mandatory including headlights,
taillights and directional signals. Light bulbs and exterior mirrors
must also be removed. Side windows must be rolled down if not removed.
Opening is to be taped with 3" duct tape. Windshield may be left in or
removed. If removed, it must be replaced with screen mesh (1/2" maximum)
covering all of the opening.
WHEELS:
Stock steel wheels not exceeding 7" width are to be used. Chrome or
spoke wheels may be used but may not exceed 7" width. Wheels may be 13",
14" or 15" diameter. (5/8" lug studs recommended).
TIRES:
8" maximum tread width casing. No grooving or shaving of any kind is
allowed. Tires must be street legal, no more than 6 ply, no truck tires
or racing tires. No large lug mud and snow tires or knobbies. Only air
may be used in tires. NO RECAPS!!
RADIATOR:
Only one (1) radiator mounted in stock position. A simple 1 3/4" o.d.
loop may be built in front of radiator for protection, not to extend
above radiator or beyond bumper. No other bars allowed under hood.
BATTERY:
Battery may be moved inside driver's compartment however, it must be
securely fastened (strapped) in place and must be wrapped in rubber to
prevent acid spillage. No boat/plastic boxes.
TRANSMISSION:
Transmission may be standard or automatic but must be stock. No
transmission coolers or hoses in car interior.
REAR ENDS:
Rear ends must be stock.
SUSPENSION:
All suspension components must remain stock. No cutting, welding or
modifying of component.
BRAKES:
Brakes must be stock. Must be standard equipment for year, make and
model.
SAFETY BELTS:
Must have factory equipment safety belts and/or harness. Racing belts
are optional.
HELMETS:
Helmets are mandatory. Snell (SA) 95 or newer closed face recommended.
Long sleeve shirts and long pants mandatory.
BUMPERS:
No reinforcement of bumpers allowed however, they must be chained or
cabled to avoid loss on racetrack. Bumper chains/cables must be at least
1/4" in diameter. Bumper ends should be bolted to body to prevent
hooking bumpers with another car.
ROLL CAGE:
A 4 point roll cage is
mandatory constructed of 1 3/4" o.d. tube of .95 thickness minimum is
mandatory (no galvanized pipe). Unibodies must have minimum 12" x 12" x
1/4" plate on top and bottom of floor with a minimum of 4 1/2" bolts per
plate. All bars in driver's area must must be padded.
GAS TANKS:
Front wheel drive cars can leave tank where it is. Gas tanks must
be moved into trunk with coiled vent, not left in stock position. Goose
neck must be cut and rubber hose installed. (refer to diagram). A metal
firewall must be installed between trunk and passenger compartment.
FUEL:
Gasoline powered cars only. No fuel additives may be used. Race gas
is okay.
IDENTIFICATION:
Car numbers must be on both sides, top and trunk of car in a contrasting
color. Numbers are to be 18" high and 12" wide. For proper scoring
numbers must be easily read from grandstands. Numbers must be clean and
bold (no silver or metallic). Driver's name is to appear on top over
door in 3" high letter.
Each car
must provide 2 scorers. No scorers = no scoring!! |
